They are commonly used to retain either soil or water. The performance of a sheet pile section depends on its geometry and the characteristics of the soils into which it is installed.

The EcoSheetPile™ Plus brand, an essential part of the XCarb® recycled and renewably produced initiative, is produced using the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) route, which utilizes 100% recycled material and 100% renewable electricity from the same power grid.
This allows the manufacturing of the new EcoSheetPile™ Plus with even lower emissions compared to the typical energy mix. The difference is even more significant when compared with conventional steelmaking, which emits around 2.3 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of primary steel produced. Certified by a specific Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), the production of the EcoSheetPile™ Plus range emits as little as 409 kg CO2-equivalent per tonne of steel produced. It also comes with a "Guarantee of Origin," certifying the renewable electricity sources, audited by an independent third party.
