Download the full case study
After Hurricanes Ian and Nicole damaged the existing seawall at the Hawaiian Inn resort in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, a new coastal protection structure was required. Steel sheet piles were selected to provide a durable and resilient solution against future storm events.
Technical Solution
The new seawall was constructed using AZ 14-770 steel sheet piles, installed with a vibratory hammer and supported by injected helical anchors. A concrete cap beam was added to complete the structure, while protective coating and drainage holes were incorporated to enhance long-term performance and durability.
Sustainability & Innovation:
The seawall was constructed using EcoSheetPile™ Plus steel sheet piles, combining high performance with a reduced environmental footprint. The low carbon solution underlines the project's commitment to sustainability and climate resilience.
Results
The new seawall restored protection for the beachfront property and improved resilience against coastal erosion and severe weather. The project shows how quick action and sustainable materials can help communities better prepare for future storms.
