Job offer - Environment Specialist
.
You will have responsibilities in three main areas:
• Follow up on Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for our various markets and related mills.
Assist the sales and the technical departments in developing a coherent sustainable approach of the steel sheet piling solutions for their respective markets (daily business). The tasks depend on the specific requirements: it can be the elaboration of a basic Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) statement, or carrying out an extensive and very complex LCA study with a professional software. The fact that ArcelorMittal Sheet Piling operates worldwide makes this a challenging job as many countries have implemented their own environmental regulations and criteria for public procurement.
• Support the short and long-term environmental strategy of the business unit: assist the management in making the right decisions when it comes to environmental issues. This involves competition watch, participation in working groups at European and local levels, such as standardization committees, in order to collect information about future changes that might have an impact on the product.
• Assist the R&D department in the elaboration of product specific Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). Here it is critical to understand the local rules and to follow-up with governments or public authorities the implementation methods of environmental criteria in public tenders.
Furthermore, being a key element in the organization, you will organize on a regular basis internal and external trainings and/or information sessions (webinars) focusing on environmental topics.
Additionally, in collaboration with the sales teams, you will meet with external stakeholders (mainly engineers, contractors and local authorities) to promote the sheet piling solutions against competing solutions (mainly concrete and wood), focusing on the environmental aspects.
In a first phase, the key promotion activities will be limited to a few European countries, so that fluency in English and German is mandatory.
