ArcelorMittalEnAMRetain™ software – new version – 2.1.9

AMRetain™ software – new version – 2.1.9

AMRetain™ is a software that allows engineers to design a sheet pile wall, at least from the geotechnical point of view. It is based on the Soil Structure Interaction Method (SSIM) for multi-level strutted or anchored walls, but can also design cantilevered or single-supported retaining walls using the Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM).

In version 2.1.1 (2018) several key features were added, such as the verification according to Approach 1 and 3 of the Eurocode 7-1. Since then, we continued adapting the software based on feedback from the user community. Another reason to release new versions is to correct small glitches.

In version 2.1.9, the main addition is the verification of the stability of an anchored wall (double wall) based on the method of Jelinek. The user can now verify the stability of the soil body between the two walls with Jelinek's logarithmical spiral. Note however that the Jelinek theory is not adapted to all situations, so we recommend double-checking the stability, for instance  when the spiral passes close to the soil surface (use your engineering judgment).

Additional improvements and additions are
  • no need anymore to add an additional phase for the activation of an anchor / strut that was not prestressed;
  • optimisation of the calculation in the Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM);
  • new sheet pile catalogue;
  • prestress on an anchor is only shown on the sketch when the prestressed element is set (detail);
  • Caquot surcharge loads are kept after an excavation or backfill action, but they can no longer be used in combination with an embankment or berm action;
  • Lu length (of an anchor) is no longer editable in the linking anchor wizard;
  • corrosion action has been adapted to be consistent between phases;
  • printing options improved;
  • fixed some bugs.

If you already have a license of a previous version (2.1.x), you can upgrade to the new version with the Updater tool. Just execute the file TerrasolUpdater.exe located in AMRetain's main folder. Make sure you have an internet connexion when doing this.
